"Threads of Friendship Exhibition"

Dear Friends,
Each alternate year Room for Threads holds a display of students work.

The display is to be held this year on the 23rd & 24th June here at Room for Threads from 10.00 - 2.00pm.

The past 2 years have been very exciting and productive. As well as weekly classes and invitation classes, extra activities have been:

In 2006: - Retreat to Hamliton Island, where everybody felted a fun pair of slippers as a surprise class, then going on to bead and macrame a beautiful creative shell necklace.

We also had a 4 day workshop with Judith Montano - the guru of Crazy-patch, the first 2 days was "Landscapes", the next 2 days an "UnderWater" scene - she certainly is a larger than life character, where all learnt and experienced different and exciting techniques.

Students also made a study of Mount Mellick Embroidery, a beautifulform of white work embroidery, worked originally by the nuns in the town of Mountmellick in Ireland. This has been a wonderful journey of embroidery for many of the students who have undertaken to contiue on with this embroidery this year.

In 2007: - Thus far we have had a retreat to Beechworth Victoria, it is the most beautiful place - even in drought. Students felted bags and beads and made a great start to my new crazy patch "Snow Santa" ready to take pride of place this christmas.

Later in the year own chosen style of embroidery to study is "Brazilian" so you will have to wait for our exhibition in 2009 to see thir results!!

Felting and beading has once again popular, I have put together a fun class for all levels on "Beads & Baubles" and also designed 2 beautiful shawles with Nuno felting (felting in fabric). These shawls are richly embroidered and beaded.

In our regular classes students are always encouraged to develop their own partivucular styles of embroidery. Come and see their fabulous results. There will also be a demonstration on felted beads at 2.00pm each of the days. Light refreshments will be served.

I look forward to sharing their rewards with you at their display.

Cheers,
Annie
